Our approach

Last updated:

In short: Voice Protocol (VPTCL) is an independent index and journal of creators who communicate beyond their natural voice, whether by necessity or by choice. We don't rank creators by followers or views, sponsorship doesn't buy a listing, and creators can ask us to correct or remove their listing.

From typed TTS to sign language, you can read how each method works on our communication methods page.

Whether you're mute, nonverbal, protecting your privacy or building a character, your method is welcome here, and you never have to explain why.

Our principles

  • Independence: SylphSpeak publishes Voice Protocol but doesn't direct its editorial coverage.
  • Sponsorship: If sponsored or supported content ever appears, it will be clearly labeled. Sponsorship doesn't buy a listing or placement.
  • No rankings: We don't rank creators by followers or views.
  • No diagnosis required: We don't ask for a diagnosis or require one.
  • Craft, not condition: We see each method as part of a creator's craft and identity.

Editorial standards

  • Sourcing: We aim to cite public sources and link to them where we can.
  • Creators' own words: We aim to follow each creator's own wording for labels and pronouns.
  • No guesswork: We avoid inferring a diagnosis, a reason or an identity from someone's setup. If something isn't public, we leave it out or mark it as unknown.
  • Corrections: When we make a significant correction, we note it on the page.
  • AI use: We use AI tools across research, drafting, editing, site development, social media and internal tooling. We also use them to create artwork, diagrams, motion and sound. People review and approve everything we publish, and we shape each piece through our own direction and revision rather than imitating any specific artist's work. We don't use AI to imitate creators' voices, likenesses or words. If you believe your work has been copied or imitated, contact us and we'll review it.

Corrections and removal

Creators can ask us to correct or remove their listing, and we'll review and act on reasonable requests promptly. You don't need to give a reason.

To request a correction, report an error, ask for a removal, or talk about a partnership, contact us.
